CHICAGO — A representative for the estate of a deceased patient is suing Symphony of Morgan Park, which was formerly known as Renaissance Park South LLC, as well as Nucare Services Corporation and Maestro Consulting Services LLC for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent the patient from fatally choking on a piece of candy.

Betty Wright, independent executor of the estate of Christine Young, filed a lawsuit on March 23 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the defendants failed to provide Young with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Young, who was clinically blind at the time, died after choking on a piece of hard candy. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide immediate assistance to Young upon showing signs of choking.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Margaret P. Battersby and Pamela Dimo of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
