CHICAGO — A representative of the estate of a deceased patient is suing Imperial Grove Pavilion, a nursing facility, for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent the patient from being injured while en route to a hospital.

Ivette Gonzalez, executor of the estate of Lydia Carrasquillo, filed a lawsuit on March 27 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the nursing facility failed to provide the patient with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Carrasquillo sustained bruising on her face, head and hip while being transferred to a hospital. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to adequately supervise Carrasquillo to prevent her from wandering and protect her from aggressive behavior of the facility's staff.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Robin A. Grinnalds of Ed Fox & Associates in Chicago.
