CHICAGO — A North Carolina bicycle maker is suing Blue Monkey Bicycles LLC, a repair shop, citing defamation for alleged falsehoods it included in a YouTube video about the plaintiff's products.
Organic Transit Inc., a hybrid-power bicycle maker, filed a complaint on April 17 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendant, which is based in Utah, alleging the bicycle shop published a YouTube video that defames the plaintiff and makes false statements about one of Organic Transit's bicycle models.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges it sustained damages to its business and reputation because of the video. The plaintiff holds Blue Monkey responsible because it allegedly uploaded a YouTube video which it claims is targeted to defame the plaintiff, causing repercussions with plaintiff's potential investors.
The plaintiff seeks monetary damages. It is represented by John Newell, of Chicago.
