Dialysis patient claims uneven carpet at Fresenius Kidney Care led to fall, injuries

Slip01

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Fresenius Kidney Care, citing alleged liability, negligence and that insufficient measures were taken to maintain safe premises.

Leaverne Webb filed a complaint on April 27 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the defendant failed to keep the inside of its premises reasonably safe for patients.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on June 3, 2015, she was injured from falling violently on the ground due to the defective nature of a carpet near the building exit. The plaintiff holds Fresenius Kidney Care responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to fix the uneven surface of the carpet, causing injury to Webb, who was there to receive dialysis.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Mark L. Karno of Mark L. Karno & Associates and Ankin Law Office LLC in Chicago.
