Suit claims Allied Collection Services repeatedly made calls to wrong person

Phone 09

CHICAGO — A Bellwood man is suing Allied Collection Services Inc., a debt collector, alleging violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Byron Jarell Woods filed a complaint on May 2 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Allied Collection Services, based in Nevada, alleging that it called the plaintiff several times in an attempt to collect an alleged debt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was damaged from being called on his cellular phone for a debt that wasn't his. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because it allegedly kept on calling the plaintiff despite his several requests to stop calling.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Nathan C. Volheim of Sulaiman Law Group Ltd. in Oak Brook.
