CHICAGO — A woman is suing dentist James Gavrilos and his practice, James Gavrilos D.D.S. P.C., alleging negligence for causing nerve pain and injury during a dental procedure.

Hillary Davis filed a complaint on May 30 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Barrington dentist alleging he failed to provide proper dental care to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she experienced pain because her trigeminal nerve was exposed prior to the placement of porcelain crowns. The plaintiff holds Gavrilos responsible because he allegedly failed to recognize the plaintiff's trigeminal nerve was enlarged and exposed before continuing with the procedure, which caused damage and inflammation.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Corey A. Benjamin of Benjamin and Shapiro Ltd. in Chicago.
