CHICAGO — A man is suing Wei Jun Mei, individually and as agent of Mei La Inc., which does business as 15/20 Lounge, claiming the establishment and its owner were liable for his injuries from a shooting.

Jonathan Smith filed a complaint on June 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against the operator of the 15/20 Lounge at South Wallace Street in Chicago alleging the lounge failed to check patrons for concealed firearms.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he was shot in the abdomen by an unknown person in the lounge after the establishment's security allegedly failed to pat down each patron for concealed weapons before allowing them to enter the establishment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Bradley N. Pollock of Taxman, Pollock, Murray & Bekkerman LLC in Chicago.
