Couple's lawsuit faults California breast implant maker

Medical malpractice 06

CHICAGO — A Will County couple are suing a California breast implant manufacturer, alleging Mentor Worldwide LLC's implants resulted in numerous painful health conditions.

Catherine Gravitt and Travis Gravitt filed a complaint on June 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Mentor, alleging the corporation manufactured defective breast implants and sold them to consumers.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege Gravitt experienced pain after having the products surgically implanted. The plaintiffs hold Mentor responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn the plaintiffs of the defective nature of their breast implant.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant for all damages, compensatory damages, interest and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Ryan A. Margulis of Seidman Margulis & Fairman, LLP in Deerfield.
