CHICAGO — An Illinois man is suing a debt collector and AT&T Mobility LLC, alleging he was falsely accused of owing a balance.

Eddison Zomayah filed a complaint on June 19 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against the defendants, alleging they attempted to collect a debt from the plaintiff in violation of a federal law.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he received a collection letter for a debt he did not owe. The plaintiff holds Afni Inc. and AT&T Mobility LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly attempted to collect a debt from the plaintiff despite his never having an account with the defendant.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, punitive damages of $30,000, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Penelope Bach of Bach Law Offices in Northbrook.
