Parkshore Estates named in negligent care and wrongful death lawsuit

COOK COUNTY—A woman is suing an assisted living facility alleging that an elderly woman was caused to fall and subsequently die due to negligence.

Margaret Thomas as independent administrator to collect of the the estate of Sarah Robinson, deceased filed a complaint on March 29 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Parkshore Estates Nursing and Rehabilitation Center LLC dba Parkshore Estates Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, infinity Healthcare Management of Illinois LLC, Paulette Alexander RN, Thomeka Brown, Juanita Davis LPN and Aishia Shipp LPN, Abigail Sullivan RD, Tijuana Haywood RN and Rachael Nnabuo RN.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a resident at the defendant's facility located at 6125 South Kenwood Ave., Chicago from January 14, 2009 to February 26, 2018. During her time at the facility, the plaintiff was caused to suffer pressure sores, in addition to other complications and was transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital on January 19, 2018 with signs of dehydration and malnutrition. The plaintiff was also at high risk for falls. The plaintiff fell on April 18, 2018 and October 8, 2017 and was ultimately caused to die on February 26, 2018 as a result of complications.

The defendant is accused of negligence and wrongful death.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Pamela Dimo and Margaret P. Battersby Black of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
