DUANE MORRIS LLP: Duane Morris Partner David B. Yelin Receives Herbert C. DeYoung Medal from Respiratory Health Association

Award

Duane Morris LLP issued the following announcement on Jan. 14.

Duane Morris Chicago partner David B. Yelin was honored by the Respiratory Health Association (RHA) for his years of leadership and support with the Herbert C. DeYoung Medal. Herbert DeYoung was a 50-year volunteer with RHA. Each year, RHA honors a volunteer who has followed in DeYoung’s footsteps.

Yelin has been an RHA board member for more than 18 years. During that time, he has helped diversify RHA’s board membership to include members from different areas of business—a move that helped develop new partnerships and support for the organization. As board chair, Yelin led RHA through the beginning stages of a capital campaign to improve its headquarters. After his two-year tenure as board chair, he led the board’s Governance Task Force ensuring RHA has strong oversight and a vision for growth. Earlier in his tenure on the board, Yelin also helped orchestrate the RHA’s establishment as an independent nonprofit, building support from the board of directors and ensuring RHA has the flexibility to develop programs and policy efforts that best meet the needs of its communities and serve its neighbors who are disproportionately affected by lung disease.

For Yelin, receiving the DeYoung Medal this year has symbolic significance—he is the same age as his father was when he passed away from lung cancer. Yelin carries this memory while continuing to work hard to bring hope to people living with lung disease. “Few people have the opportunity to be involved with an organization that has such an impact on people’s lives,” said Yelin. “It’s a real privilege.”
