In the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, plaintiff Latay Williams has filed a lawsuit against United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS). The case ID is 1:24-cv-03325 and was filed on April 25, 2024. The suit alleges sex-based discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Section 1981.

The plaintiff, represented by unnamed counsel, claims that she was denied employment as a feeder driver in October 2023 due to her gender. She further alleges that UPS subjected her to different terms and conditions of employment than others not within her protected class.

Williams states that during an orientation session, a male HR representative referred to her intended position as a "big boy" position. She also claims that she was the only female new hire not given a uniform at a subsequent orientation session and was later informed that the position was no longer available.

The plaintiff seeks redress for the alleged sex-based discrimination under Title VII and Section 1981. She asserts that all administrative prerequisites have been fulfilled or complied with, including filing a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and receiving a Notice of Right to Sue from the EEOC.
