The Illinois Judicial Inquiry Board is alleging a DuPage County judge retaliated against two courthouse employees for accusing him of sexual harassment and repeatedly lied to police and the board, in a separate matter, about firing a bullet through his apartment wall into an adjacent unit.
The country's oldest association of African-American judges has decried the most recent selection of associate judges to the Cook County Circuit Court for lack of diversity, saying the lack of new black judges means the county's bench is moving away from resembling the community it serves.
Five current associate judges and 11 lawyers will take the bench in Cook County this summer, after the Cook County Circuit Court’s 252 elected circuit judges selected them to be appointed to serve as associate judges, filling vacancies in local courtrooms until at least next summer.
