A Cook County man is suing a municipal transit corporation, alleging he was hurled about the interior of a public bus and injured.

Dylan Rice filed a lawsuit June 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority, alleging negligence in a 2014 accident.

According to the complaint, on June 17, 2014, CTA was operating a public bus southbound on Lake Shore Drive near the West La Salle Drive overpass, and passenger Rice was standing in the accordion section of the articulated vehicle. The suit states that when the driver came to a sudden stop, Rice was thrown to the floor. He suffered personal and pecuniary injuries, according to the suit.

The suit states the CTA was negligent in its duty to provide a safe passage for the plaintiff. Allegations include: failing to keep a proper lookout; maintain a reasonable speed; warn passengers of the abrupt braking; and keeping a sufficient distance from other vehicles.

Rice seeks damages in excess of $50,000, attorney fees and costs. He is represented by attorneys Charles Romaker and Fernando Bustamante of The Romaker Law Firm in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L0005770.
