Estate alleges man's employers caused asbestos-related death

The estate of a man who allegedly died of mesothelioma is suing the makers, distributors and users of asbestos-containing products.

Peggy A. Rudasill, as administrator of the estate of Donn R. Rudasill, filed a lawsuit June 18 in Cook County Circuit Court dozens of companies, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Donn R. Rudasill worked as a machinist mate and aviation support equipment technician at different locations from about 1954 to 1978. During this time, the lawsuit states, he came into contact with asbestos-containing materials made, marketed, sold, used or distributed by the defendants.

As a result, the suit states, Donn Rudasill contracted mesothelioma, an asbestos-related disease. He learned of the disease Sept. 9, 2014, shortly before his death, the complaint says.

Peggy Rudasill seeks damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits, plus costs. She is represented by attorney Daniel T. Ryan of Cooney and Conway in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L006174.
