Advocate Hospital, Manorcare Nursing Home named in wrongful death suit

Young

Tina Larsen, as independent executor of the estate of Edith Chiappetti, filed suit in the Cook County Circuit Court on Oct. 12.

Larsen is suing Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp., doing business as Advocate Christ Medical Center, and Manor Care of Palos Heights, doing business as Manorcare Health Services - Palos Heights.

Larsen claims Chiappetti was admitted to Advocate in October 2011 with a broken hip and wrist. Larsen alleges that while Chiapetti was staying at Advocate between Oct. 17-20, 2011, she developed numerous pressure ulcers which ultimately required debridement.

Larsen goes on to claim that Chiapetti developed more ulcers and blisters which also required debridement, while she was a resident at Manorcare.

Larsen is now suing the defendants for wrongful death, claiming they failed to properly treat and manage the medical care for Chiapetti, which precipitated her untimely death. Larsen is also suing Manorcare under Illinois' Nursing Home Care Act.

Larsen is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. She is being represented by Chicago attorney Jonathan Young of Kralovec, Jambois and Schwartz.
