Faylene Gerhardt filed suit in the Cook County Circuit Court on Oct. 24 against the city of Chicago over injuries she allegedly sustained as a result of the city's negligence.
Gerhardt's lawsuit stems from a fall she took in a parking lot owned and maintained by the city of Chicago.
Gerhardt claims that she was walking in a parking lot at 5556 S. Central Ave. in Chicago to go vote in November 2012, when she fell on a crack or broken part of the parking lot.
She accuses the city of failing to provide a safe entrance to the building where voting was taking place.
Gerhardt is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented by Chicago attorney Fred I. Benjamin.
