The parents of a minor are suing over claims their child received face lacerations while at daycare.

Olga Morales and Thomas Garcia, individually and as parents and next best friend of minor J.G., filed a lawsuit Nov. 12 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Maritza Fernandez, individually and doing business as Fernandez Daycare and Golden Age Daycare, citing negligence and the Family Expense Act.

The plaintiffs allege that J.G. sustained serious injuries on her face on May 20, 2012, while at the defendant's daycare at 5333 W. Oakdale Ave., in Chicago.

The complaint states J.G. suffered cuts and lacerations on her face as a result of an unsupervised child or unrestrained animal biting and/or scratching.

The plaintiffs are seeking more than $50,000 in damages. They are being represented by Mark L. Karno of Mark L. Karno & Associates.
