Woman sues after closet door falls on her

By Thomas Kallies | Dec 9, 2013

Juanita Garcia filed suit Oct. 29 in the Cook County Circuit Court, accusing Capital Associated Development Corp., Bloomingdale Preservation Partners LP, Keystone Apartments LLC and Village Green Management Co. LLC of negligence.

Garcia claims the defendants failed to adequately maintain, repair or inspect Garcia's apartment for a dangerous condition.

According to the suit, Garcia was in her apartment, which was owned or maintained by the defendants, when a closet door fell on her, causing her injuries. Garcia alleges the sliding door was not properly fastened to the track and the defendants were negligent in not discovering or repairing the dangerous condition.

Garcia is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented by Chicago attorney Scott DeSalvo.
