A.W. Chesterton Co., others sued over alleged asbestos exposure

By Whitney Brakken | Dec 6, 2013

The estate of a former mechanical engineer is suing over claims repeated exposure to asbestos resulted in mesothelioma and death.

Joyceline Kriesmer, as special administrator of the Estate of John D. Kriesmer, filed an asbestos suit Nov. 27 in the Cook County Circuit Court against A.W. Chesterton Co. and others.

According to the suit, John Kriesmer worked in various capacities, including as mechanical engineer, from 1944 until 1981, during which time he was exposed to asbestos containing products.

The plaintiff contends the defendants were negligent and knew or should have known that asbestos could cause injury or death. She claims John developed mesothelioma as a result of the asbestos exposure, which ultimately led to his death on April 1.

Joyceline Kriesmer is asking for damages in excess of jurisdictional minimums, plus costs and is being represented by Chicago law firm Daniel T. Ryan of Cooney and Conway.
