Advocate Christ Hospital and Brentwood Sub-Acute Healthcare Center sued

Scales

Two medical care facilities and a nurse are facing suit over claims they provided inadequate medical care.

Eular Sherroid, as independent administrator for Robert Reed, filed a lawsuit Oct. 30 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp., doing business as Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center, THI of Illinois at Brentwood LLC, doing business as Brentwood Sub-Acute Healthcare Center, and C. Dickey, citing the state's wrongful death, survival, nursing home care acts.

The suit states from Oct. 3, 2011 until Oct. 13, 2011, Reed was a patient at Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center and that the defendant failed to properly care for him by allowing a stage II ulcer to progress to stage III and providing inadequate nutrition.

Sherroid contends Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center's actions make them liable under the wrongful death and survival act.

The complaint also states from Oct. 13, 2011 until his death on Nov. 4, 2011, Reed was a patient at Brentwood Sub-Acute Healthcare Center where he received care from Dickey, a licensed nurse. While a patient there, Sherroid claims that Reed's pressure ulcers progressed, was not fed regularly and died from sepsis as a result of inadequate medical care.

The plaintiff is seeking damages and is being represented in the case by Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz.
