City of Chicago, K-Five Construction, Gallagher Asphalt face suit

A man is suing over claims he sustained injuries after falling into a hole.

David Shields Sr. filed a lawsuit Nov. 6 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against the City of Chicago, K-Five Construction Corp. and Gallagher Asphalt Corp., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Shields sustained serious injuries on Nov. 14, 2012 when he fell into a hole at 8204 S. Halsted St. in Chicago. He claims the defendants were performing construction in the area and failed to barricade the street and post signs.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. He is being represented by Fred I. Benjamin of Benjamin & Shapiro Ltd.
