A nursing home is facing suit over claims it violated the Nursing Home Care Act and committed false imprisonment.

Deborah Paris filed a lawsuit Dec. 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against BM of Chicago Ridge LLC, doing business as Chicago Ridge Nursing Center LLC.

According to the complaint, Paris was a resident at Chicago Ridge Nursing Center from June 3, 2010 until May 18. She claims the defendant failed to intervene when a male resident was making sexually suggestive remarks and inappropriate behavior towards her, failed to escort her to a safe place and failed to report the conduct.

As a result, Paris claims in her suit that she was sexually assaulted, battered and sustained other physical injuries. In addition, Paris contends she was prevented from leaving the defendant's premises on multiple occasions.

Paris is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Robert W. Karr of Robert W. Karr & Associates Ltd.
