Scales3

An insurance company is suing in an attempt to recoup money it paid out over fire damage.

Leading Insurance Group Insurance Co. Ltd, as subrogee of Loretta Caldwell, filed a lawsuit Nov. 20 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Coleman, Pernell & Bell Enterprises and Robert Ross, doing business as Rossi Decor, citing negligence.

Leading Insurance Group claims it should be reimbursed by the defendants for money it paid to Caldwell when a fire broke out after they performed maintenance and repair work, which included refinishing of floors.

The plaintiff contends the defendants failed to properly dispose of sanded flooring material, failed to ensure that sanded floor materials were properly disposed of and were negligent in some other manner that led to the fire.

The insurance company is seeking $106,546.17 and is represented by The Alholm Law Firm P.C.
