A bar patron is suing over claims he was injured in a fight.

Erand Shanini filed a lawsuit Oct. 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against La Margarita De Las Flores Inc., Ramone Sandoval, individually and doing business as La Margarita, and unknown owners, citing negligence and the state's Dram Shop Act.

According to the complaint, Shanini was a patron of La Margarita at 1626 E. Algonquin Road in Schaumburg on Oct. 15, 2011 when a fight broke out and the bar was cleared. After police were called to break up the fight, Shanini claims the bar was reopened, at which time, he and his friends were attacked by other patrons.

The plaintiff claims he suffered a traumatic brain injury and concussion as a result of the incident.

He is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented in the case by attorney Matthew A. Lasusa of Fichera & Miller, P.C.
