A local surgeon is being sued by a woman who underwent cholecystectomy surgery in his care.

Jessica Robison filed a lawsuit Nov. 12 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Carl W. Johnson II, individually and doing business as Surgical Care Associates Ltd., and The Ingalls Memorial Hospital, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Johnson was a doctor at the defendant's hospital on March 2, 2012, when the plaintiff underwent a cholecystectomy. Robison claims the procedure was performed negligently, resulting in severe and permanent injuries.

She further alleges Johnson failed to properly explain the risks involved in the procedure prior to surgery.

Robison is seeking damages within the jurisdictional limit, including court costs. She is being represented in the case by attorney Marc A. Taxman.
