Manorcare of Elgin sued for allegedly violating the Nursing Home Care Act

Manorcare is facing suit over claims they violated the Nursing Home Care Act.

Karen Hart, by her duly appointed Power of Attorney, Carolyn Hart, filed a lawsuit Feb. 18 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Manor Care of Elgin IL LLC, doing business as Manorcare of Elgin, citing violation of the Nursing Home Care Act.

The plaintiff states in August 2011, Karen was admitted to Manorcare of Elgin and the defendant knew or should have known she was a high risk for the development and deterioration of pressure ulcers. While a resident at Manorcare of Elgin, Karen developed multiple pressure ulcers as a direct result of the defendant violating the Nursing Home Care Act, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus costs and fees. She is being represented in the case by Michael J. Eisenberg of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates.
