A trio of medical care providers are facing suit over allegations of medical malpractice following a patient's jump from a Hinsdale hospital's second floor balcony.

Diana Hagins filed a lawsuit March 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Sapana Chokshi, Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and Hinsdale Psychiatry SC.

According to the complaint, Hagins was admitted to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital on March 3, 2012 and was determined to be at risk for suicide. While still in the hospital, the suit states, Hagins jumped from the hospital's second floor balcony to the lobby below, sustaining injuries.

Hagins claims the defendants' negligence caused her to sustain injuries.

She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented by Charles V. Falkenberg III of Karlin, Fleisher & Falkenberg.
