By Annie Cosby | Apr 11, 2014

A woman is suing over claims nursing home neglect led to the death of a relative.

Shirley Ryan, as special administrator of the estate of Grover Ryan, filed a lawsuit April 1 in the Cook County Circuit Court against South Suburban Rehabilitation Center LLC and Franciscan Alliance Inc., Franciscan St. James Health - Chicago Heights, RMLHP Corp. and RML Specialty Hospital, some of whom are only named as respondents in discovery.

According to the suit, while a resident at South Suburban Rehab Center, Grover  developed severe pressure ulcers, which led to the sepsis that caused his death on Nov. 6, 2012. The suit includes counts under the state's wrongful death and nursing home care acts.

Ryan is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz P.C.
