A woman is suing over allegations she was injured after a sign fell on her head while walking on the sidewalk in front of a Chicago convenience store.

Jan Dodgen filed a lawsuit May 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Rayan Brothers Enterprises Inc., Rayan Properties Inc., M&M Grocery Inc., Shawki Khazneh and other unknown owners, citing premises liability.

According to the suit, Dodgen was on the sidewalk in front of the defendants' grocery store on North Sheridan Road in Chicago on Aug. 7, 2012, when a sign on the store fell and struck her. She accuses of the defendants of being negligent in maintaining the sign.

Dodgen is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Charles E. Webster of Brustin & Lundblad Ltd.
