The Imperial Grove Pavilion, others face wrongful death suit

By Whitney Brakken | May 30, 2014

The estate of a former resident of a Chicago long-term care facility is claiming it provided inadequate care that led to a woman's death.

Debra Macchitelli, as independent administrator of the Estate of Mary Cronk, filed a wrongful death lawsuit April 30 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Claridge Imperial Ltd., doing business as The Imperial Grove Pavilion, and Bravo Care Of St. Charles Inc., doing business as Rosewood Care Center St. Charles, citing the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.

The complaint states Cronk resided at The Imperial Grove Pavilion at 1366 W. Fullerton Ave. in Chicago beginning on Sept. 11, 2009. While Cronk was a resident, Macchitelli claims the defendants committed numerous acts of negligence, including, but not limited to, failing to prevent Cronk from developing pressure ulcers.

Macchitelli is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Michael J. Eisenberg of Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates P.C.
