Stairway fall leads to suit against owners of Star Inn motel

A woman is suing the owners of a Joliet motel over allegations the deteriorated condition of a stairway caused her to fall.

Margaret Quesada filed a lawsuit May 23 in the Cook County Circuit Court against MP Hospitality Inc., doing business as Star Inn, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, Quesada was at the Star Inn on West Jefferson Street in Joliet on Aug. 20, 2012, when she fell on the stairway she alleges was in a deteriorated condition and sustained injuries. She accuses the defendant of failing to maintain its premises.

Quesada is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit and is being represented in the case by attorney Michael J. Kedzie of Kedzie Law Offices PC.
