By Annie Cosby | Jun 11, 2014

A woman is suing a Cook County suburb and nature center, claiming she was injured on a footbridge while at her son's wedding.

Laurel L. Piecuch filed a lawsuit June 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the City of Palos Heights and Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens, citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, Piecuch was at the nature center for her son's wedding on Oct. 5, when she tripped on an uneven board on a wooden footbridge and sustained injuries. She accuses the defendants of failing to maintain the premises and warn visitors of the dangerous condition.

Piecuch is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Thomas M. Power of Power, Rogers & Smith P.C.
