Construction worker sues companies over fall at Evanston site

Steinberg

A man is suing a trio of companies, claiming he was injured while working on a construction site.

Sergio Calvillo filed a lawsuit June 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Walsh Construction Company, Gibson Electric Co. Inc. and GT Mechanical Projects & Design Inc., citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, Calvillo was working for Service Drywall & Decorating Inc., which along with Gibson Electric and GT Mechanical, was contracted out by Walsh Construction for a project on Chicago Street in Evanston on Feb. 9, 2013.

Calvillo claims construction equipment was left in a dangerous condition, causing him to fall and injure himself. He accuses the defendants of failing to maintain the premises and provide a safe place for him to work.

Calvillo is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Bradley D. Steinberg of Steinberg, Goodman & Kalish.
