Fatal car crash on North Avenue leads to negligence claim against other driver

Scales

The son of a man killed in a car collision in Chicago is suing a driver he claims is responsible for the crash.

Peter Kim filed suit June 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jeramie Lahue and RMT Transport Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the suit, Lahue was driving a trailer owned by RMT Transport westbound on North Avenue near the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago on April 19, when he collided with the car Kim's father, Kye Yul Kim, was driving.

Kim alleges Lahue crossed over the center line into the eastbound lanes, causing the collision that took his father's life. The suit accuses Lahue of failing to keep a proper look out for other vehicles, crossing the center line into oncoming traffic and failing to sound his horn to warn other drivers.

Kim is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. He is being represented in the case by attorneys at Pfaff, Gill and Ports Ltd. in Chicago.
