The owners of a Michigan casino and Indiana bus company are being sued by a woman who claims she fell because they failed to unload the bus safely and help elderly passengers.

Blondell Dixon filed a lawsuit June 12 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, as owners of Four Winds Casino, Lake Management Inc. and Kayser Enterprises Inc., doing business as Royal Excursion Chauffeurs, alleging negligence.

Her suit also names an unknown bus driver for Royal Excursion and an unknown greeter at casino as respondents-in-discovery.

According to the complaint, Dixon traveled from the casino’s bus loading facility at 2734 W. Wentworth Ave. in Chicago to the casino on July 28. She claims the casino greeter was assisting bus passengers in the parking lot, but did not help her get off the bus.

She asserts she fell getting off the bus and sustained severe and permanent injuries. Her suit accuses the defendants of not unloading the bus in a reasonably safe location, failing to recognize the special needs of elderly passengers and not providing her with assistance.

Dixon is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented by Burton I. Weinstein of Baskin, Server, Berke & Weinstein LLC in Chicago.

This is a report on a civil lawsuit filed at the Cook County Courthouse. The details in this report come from an original complaint filed by a plaintiff. Please note that a complaint represents an accusation by a private individual, not the government. It is not an indication of guilt, and it represents only one side of the story.
