A man is suing over claims a doctor failed to diagnose his fractured heel, requiring him to undergo surgery more than a year later.

Lenell Davis filed a lawsuit July 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Gottlieb Memorial Hospital and Drs. Thomas James and Aakash Ahuja, alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, Davis was diagnosed with a sprained foot by James at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital on July 12, 2012, but discovered on Dec. 19, 2013 he actually suffered a heel fracture and Achilles tendon rupture. He asserts he was forced to undergo surgery as a result of the alleged negligence.

He accuses Ahuja of negligently interpreting diagnostic films of Davis's foot as containing no fracture.

Davis is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented by attorney Scott B. Wolfman of Law Offices of Scott B. Wolfman & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
