By Annie Cosby | Jul 22, 2014

A Cook County woman is suing a Hoffman Estates hospital, claiming she was burned during surgery.

Brandi Chabalowski filed a lawsuit July 14 in the Cook County Circuit Court against St. Alexius Medical Center, citing medical negligence.

According to the complaint, Chabalowski underwent a laparoscopy with cautery of endometriosis implants at St. Alexius on July 18, 2012. Chabalowski says after she was discharged that same day, she noticed redness and swelling on her hips that her doctor diagnosed as second- and third-degree burns.

Chabalowski is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Daniel A. Wolf of Schwartz Wolf & Bernstein LLP in Buffalo Grove.
