Storto

A man is suing over claims he suffered third-degree burns after trying to start a generator during a construction project.

Yousef Khalil filed a lawsuit July 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Midian Shawar, Ahed Sewail and Kostner Pantry LLC, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, Khalil was attempting to start a gasoline-powered generator while doing construction work for Sewail and Kostner Pantry on premises rented from Shawar on March 1, 2012, when he heard an explosion and was engulfed in flames.

Khalil claims he was sedated in a hospital for more than a month and suffered third-degree burns to more than 40 percent of his body as a result of the incident. He accuses the defendants of negligence.

He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Ralph R. Storto of Storto, Finn & Rosinski in Bensenville.
