A man is suing a chain of fitness clubs over injuries he allegedly sustained in a fall at its Tinley Park location.

Herbert Offord filed suit July 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against L.A. Fitness International LLC, and/or Fitness International LLC, and/or Fitness and Sports Clubs LLC, doing business as L.A. Fitness.

According to the complaint, Offord was at the L.A. Fitness at 18400 Convention Center Dr. in Tinley Park on Oct. 2, 2012, when he slipped on water on the floor and suffered temporary and permanent disabling injuries.

He accuses the defendant of being negligent by permitting the floor to be in an unsafe condition, failing to remove the water, not warning persons of the potential hazard and failing to inspect the floor.

Offord is seeking damages in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and is represented by Chicago attorney Joseph W. Lauer of Whiteside & Goldberg Ltd.
