Dispute over contract for parking spaces spurs lawsuit

Scales

A Cook County company is suing over claims a parking garage tenant has breach its contract.

850 LLC filed a lawsuit Aug. 13 in the Cook County Circuit Court against ABM Parking Services Inc., as successor in interest to System Parking Inc., and The L&R Group of Companies.

According to the complaint, 850 LLC, as landlord, entered into a lease with System Parking with L&R Group as guarantor, on Oct. 1, 2008, for parking spaces in a garage on East Chestnut Street to be used for the valet parking of vehicles, not for public parking.

The plaintiff, however, claims the defendants violated that part of their lease and made more than $17,000 in monthly parking revenue. It is seeking that amount, as well as more than $110,000 in disputed charges it contends it discovered after a partial audit of the defendants' books.

850 LLC is being represented in the case by attorney Gene Moskowitz of Gene Moskowitz & Associates Ltd. in Chicago.
