A Chicago Police officer is suing the owners of two well-known establishments over claims she was injured when an intoxicated man attacked her.
Karen Wojcikowski filed lawsuit Oct. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against HOB Chicago Inc., doing business as House of Blues; LHO Chicago River; Moe's River North, doing business as Moe's Cantina; 149 Kinzie; Live Nation Chicago Inc.; Live Nation Marketing Inc.; Live Nation LGTours (USA); Live Nation UTours (USA) Inc.; Live Nation Worldwide; and Joseph Zajac; citing the state's Dram Shop Act.
According to the complaint, Zajac was a customer at the House of Blues on North Dearborn Street and Moe's Cantina on West Kinzie Street in Chicago on Dec. 3, 2013, when he became intoxicated and left the establishments.
Wojcikowski, a Chicago police officer, claims she responded to a call about an intoxicated individual on North LaSalle Street and came into contact with Zajac, who attacked her, kicking her in the shoulder and striking her in the body.
The defendant companies are accused of violating the Dram Shop Act, and Zajac is accused of battery and negligence.
Wojcikowski is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorneys Romanucci and Blandin of Chicago.
