Customer's slip on onion skin at suburban Whole Foods leads to lawsuit

A woman is suing over claims she was injured after slipping on onion skin at a Whole Foods store.

Olvia Hernandez filed a lawsuit Oct. 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against Whole Foods Market Inc.; Whole Foods Market; Whole Foods Market Group Inc.; Whole Foods Market Group Inc., and others.

According to the complaint, Hernandez was walking near the onion display in the Whole Foods store on North Martingale Road in Schaumburg on Oct. 22, 2012, when she slipped on onion skin on the floor and sustained injuries. She accuses the defendants of being negligent in failing to maintain and clean the premises.

Hernandez is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney M. Andrew Hamilton of M. Andrew Hamilton in Chicago.

Her suit also names the following as defendants KF Schaumburg; KF Schaumburg, doing business as Kimco Realty Corp. and Kimco Schaumburg Inc.; Kimco Select Chicago 694; Kimco Select Chicago 694, doing business as Kimco Select Chicago, and Kimco Select Investments and Kimco Select Investments Inc.; Streets of Woodfield Holdings; and Streets of Woodfield Shopping Centers Syndicated Holdings.
