A real estate developer who allegedly went bankrupt and lost his children’s college funds is suing a Chicago law firm over allegations of legal malpractice.
David J. Dubin filed suit Jan. 22 in Cook County against Levenfeld Pearlstein.
According to the complaint, in June 2012, Dubin was ordered to repay more than $13 million in loans in a default case. Dubin alleges his lawyers told him his children’s college funds were not subject to his business debts, but says that turned out to be false as he filed for bankruptcy and lost the money.
Dubin is seeking damages and is represented by attorney Edward T. Joyce of the Law Offices of Edward T. Joyce & Associates in Chicago.
