Woman sues for trip-and-fall injuries in Englewood salon

A woman has sued an Englewood salon for negligence after her dress caught in a salon chair, causing her to become injured when she fell.

Marlena Davis filed suit June 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Tu & Co. Salon; Skyboxx Mens Spa Inc.; Delaney Epps; and Takeda Epps, alleging negligence in a 2013 incident.

According to the complaint, on July 12, 2013, Davis was a customer at the Tu & Co. Salon, 7321 S. Halsted St., Chicago, when her dress caught and became snagged in the footrest of a chair that was missing a rubber cover. The suit says Davis tripped, fell and hit the floor when she attempted to stand up from the chair where she had been receiving hair care.

The suit cites the defendants for using improperly maintained equipment, failing to repair the hazardous condition after noticing the defect and neglecting to warn the plaintiff or stylists of the hazard.

The suit says Davis sustained severe personal and pecuniary injuries, medical bills and lost work time.

Davis seeks actual damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by the Levin Riback Law Group in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case No.: 15-L-5577.
