A worker allegedly injured replacing lighting ballasts in a workplace is suing the facility's owners.
John Navarro filed a lawsuit June 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against Pancor Management, Pancor Construction and Development and OBT I, alleging three counts of negligence, one for each defendant.
According to the complaint, on June 1, 2013, Navarro was working for ABM Janitorial Services at 1901 S. Meyers Road, Oak Brook Terrace, and was directed by the property engineer to change light fixture ballasts in offices in the building. At a certain point, the lawsuit states, Navarro came into contact with a live electrical current, which caused him to fall from an elevated work platform onto the floor.
As a result, the lawsuit states, Navarro sustained injury, pain and suffering, loss of income and medical expenses.
The suit says the defendants were negligent for failing to inspect the work being done, supervise the work properly, provide sufficient training and safety equipment, and coordinate the timing of Navarro's work to keep from having to leave the lights on.
Navarro seeks damages in excess of $150,000, plus costs. He is represented by attorney George L. Acosta of Acosta & Associates in St. Charles.
