Cyclist sues motorist she accuses of injuring her in car crash

A female bicyclist who was injured in a local car crash is suing the driver she accuses of striking her.

Lauren Crabtree filed a complaint June 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against Irina R. Ablyamitova.

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 21, 2014, Crabtree was riding a bicycle traveling northwest on Milwaukee Avenue at Ogden Avenue in Chicago, when Ablyamitova turned left abruptly, trying to go southwest on Ogden Avenue, and allegedly crashed into the plaintiff. The lawsuit states Ablyamitova is cited with failing to yield or exercise due care, and with endangering the plaintiff.

As a result, the lawsuit states, the plaintiff suffered injuries, pain and suffering, loss of a normal life and medical expenses.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by Brendan H. Kevenides, of Freeman Kevenides Law Firm LLC in Chicago.
