Cookcountycourt

A customer is suing a Gurnee grocery store and one of its former employees for the alleged beating he was given there.

Gregory Davis filed a lawsuit July 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against Windy City Quality Foods Inc. and Kevin Curtis, alleging negligence and carelessness.

According to the complaint, on July 16, 2013, Davis was at the defendant's store at 3634 Pacific Ave., Gurnee, where Curtis was a salesman. The suit says Curtis "violently assaulted" Davis, striking him repeatedly.

The lawsuit states the store was negligent and careless by failing to protect Davis and maintain safety for all customers. The suit charges with Curtis with battery.

Davis seeks damages of more than $100,000, plus costs. He is represented by attorney Benjamin B. Kelly of The Vrdolyak Law Group in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L007196.
