A Cook County woman is suing nonprofit corporation Families & Children’s Aids Network of Chicago and the Timber Pointe Outdoor Center of Hudson, claiming negligence in a 2014 mishap involving a golf cart ride malfunction.

Marquette Moore brought a lawsuit against Easter Seals Central Illinois of Peoria, doing business as Timber Pointe Outdoor Center of Hudson, and Families & Children’s Aids Network of Chicago on July 28 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging negligence in the July 2014 incident.

The suit states that Moore accepted a ride from the Timber Pointe Outdoor Center’s golf cart transportation service on or about July 31, 2014. According to the filing, the Families & Children’s Aids Network was operating the cart at the time. Moore alleges that she was inadvertently thrown from the back of the moving cart and landed on the ground, sustaining physical injuries which she claims are serious and permanent.

The plaintiff charges the defendant with negligently operating the cart at an excessive rate of speed under the circumstances, failure to maintain safety restraints on the vehicle, and failure to properly train employees on safety procedures.

Moore claims injuries to her right knee and left finger, with resulting pain, anguish and medical expenses. She demands judgment in an amount deemed appropriate by the court, along with attorneys’ fees and costs. The plaintiff is represented by Brad Wilmoth of Brown & Crouppen in St. Louis.
