A Cook County woman is suing over claims of the Nursing Home Care Act against a certain Illinois-based health care and rehabilitation center.

Helen Grilli filed a lawsuit Aug. 14 in the Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division against Whitehall of Deerfield Healthcare Center, a division of Whitehall North LLC, citing negligence.

According to the claim, Whitehall of Deerfield Healthcare Center, located 300 Waukegan Road in Deerfield, and its staff practiced careless judgment while caring for Grilli from Nov. 20, 2013, to Feb. 4, 2014, causing her to develop Stage IV decubitus ulcers on her buttocks and lower back, which ultimately led to additional nursing care, treatment and hospitalization.

Grilli is seeking damages in the amount necessary to compensate her fully and fairly for all losses compensable under the Nursing Home Care Act, including costs and attorney fees in an amount of more than $50,000, the claim states.

She is being represented by James P. Lynch of the Keating Law Offices P.C. of Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division case number 2015L008353.
